Had a lovely time today in the wood with a baby tawny owl.  Although only a few weeks old, it is amazingly capable and alert.  It flew to a tree and literally just latched to the side of it.  It was easy to attract with a squeak.  Babies fall for that but they soon learn that it isn't really a dying shrew and stop taking any notice.  I have noticed that these predators usually avoid eye contact.
